Course Description

Baking Level 3 – Course Overview (Uwezo College)

Uwezo College offers the Baking Level 3 course under the TVET-CDACC framework, a practical, hands-on program designed to equip learners with essential baking skills for both domestic and commercial settings. This competency-based course focuses on the core techniques and knowledge required to succeed in the baking industry, whether in professional kitchens, bakeries, or self-employment ventures.

The curriculum is built around three main units of learning:

  • Cake Making – covering preparation, mixing techniques, baking methods, and finishing.

  • Bread Making – focusing on different types of dough, fermentation, shaping, and baking.

  • Cake Icing – introducing both basic and decorative icing skills including piping, glazing, and artistic presentation.

Training is practical in nature, allowing learners to work with real ingredients, tools, and ovens in a simulated or actual baking environment. By the end of the course, students are expected to produce a range of baked products with professional quality.

After completing classroom instruction, every trainee is required to undergo 240 hours of industrial attachment in a hospitality setting—specifically in a bakery or pastry department. This hands-on exposure helps bridge the gap between training and industry expectations, giving learners valuable workplace experience.

This course is ideal for school leavers, aspiring bakers, or anyone seeking to start a career in baking. Graduates will be well-prepared for employment in bakeries, hotels, or to start their own small baking businesses.

At Uwezo College, we take you Beyond Training, preparing you to rise and shine in the world of baking.
