Course Description

Food and Beverage Service (Waiter) Level 4 – Course Overview (Uwezo College)

The Food and Beverage Service Level 4 course at Uwezo College is a competency-based program developed under the TVET-CDACC framework. It is tailored to equip learners with the advanced skills and knowledge required to deliver excellent food and beverage service in hotels, restaurants, catering establishments, and event settings.

This course is structured into two modules, each focusing on core operational areas within the food and beverage service industry:

  • Module 1 covers:

    • Food and Beverage Service – focusing on professional service procedures, customer care, order taking, and table setting in various hospitality setups.

    • Food and Beverage Service Techniques – training learners in service styles, tray service, sequence of service, and handling customer preferences.

    • Prepare Mocktails and Cocktails – introducing preparation, garnishing, and presentation of a variety of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.

  • Module 2 focuses on:

    • Perform Bar Keeping Operations – covering bar setup, stock handling, bar hygiene, and customer interaction at beverage counters.

    • Execute Banquets and Events Operations – equipping learners to plan, set up, and manage food and beverage service during large functions, conferences, and celebrations.

After successfully completing coursework, trainees undertake a 320-hour industrial attachment in a professional hospitality setting. This provides real-life experience and strengthens job readiness.

Graduates of this program are qualified for roles such as waiters, banquet staff, bar attendants, or event service assistants.
