Course Description
ICT Technician Level 5 – Course Overview (Uwezo College)
Uwezo College offers the ICT Technician Level 5 course under the TVET-CDACC curriculum, designed to prepare students for higher-level roles in the ICT field. This competency-based program equips learners with advanced technical and professional skills necessary to support, maintain, and manage ICT systems across industries.
The course is structured into four progressive modules. Module I covers foundational skills in computer essentials and operations, while Module II advances into computer network setup and repair and maintenance. Module III introduces specialized areas such as basic electronics, software installation, network design and management, and work ethics. Module IV focuses on computer programming principles, computerized database systems, communication skills, and entrepreneurship.
Across all modules, students undergo intensive hands-on training, emphasizing real-world ICT applications. The program includes 480 hours of industry-based training, giving learners practical exposure and experience in professional settings. The course totals 2,070 hours and carries a credit factor of 207, ensuring a robust and comprehensive training experience.
Assessment is competency-based, combining both formative and summative evaluations, with 90% of the weight on practical performance. Upon successful completion, students are awarded the TVET Certificate in ICT Technician Level 5, recognized under the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF).
