ICT Technician Level 6 – Course Overview (Uwezo College)
The ICT Technician Level 6 course at Uwezo College is a comprehensive, advanced training program accredited by TVET-CDACC and aligned with the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF). This program is structured to produce highly skilled ICT professionals capable of supporting, managing, and developing complex ICT systems in both public and private sector environments.
Spanning six intensive modules, the curriculum provides both breadth and depth in ICT training. It builds on core competencies from lower levels and advances into higher-level skills, including computer operations, network setup and maintenance, software installation, database management, and network design. Students also learn to develop web and desktop applications, manage ICT security, and apply system analysis and design principles.
Additional learning areas include basic electronics, computer programming, discrete mathematics, project management, communication, work ethics, and entrepreneurial skills, ensuring a well-rounded graduate prepared for dynamic ICT roles.
The course emphasizes competency-based learning with strong practical orientation. Learners participate in hands-on lab work, simulations, projects, and industrial attachment, bridging academic training with real-world ICT experience.
Entry requirements include a KCSE mean grade of C- (minus) or completion of ICT Technician Level 5 or its equivalent as approved by TVETA.
Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded a TVET Certificate in ICT Technician Level 6, qualifying them for roles such as network administrator, software developer, systems analyst, or ICT support specialist.
