NITA Dressmaking Grade III Course

Course Overview

The Dressmaking Grade III course is a beginner-level programme examined by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA). It is designed to equip learners with practical skills and knowledge required to make quality garments and establish a successful career in the fashion and garment industry.

Course Objectives

The course aims to enable trainees to:

  • Understand the principles and practices of dressmaking and garment construction.
  • Develop competence in operating and maintaining sewing equipment.
  • Acquire pattern drafting and fabric cutting skills.
  • Learn various hand and machine sewing techniques.
  • Construct quality garments using professional standards.
  • Apply safety and health procedures in the workshop.
  • Develop creativity and professionalism in the fashion industry.
  • Prepare for employment or self-employment in the garment and apparel sector.

No previous experience in dressmaking is required.

 

Duration

The programme runs for six (6) months of training followed by three (3) months of industrial attachment, allowing learners to gain valuable workplace experience and industry exposure.

Examinations are administered by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).
