General FAQs

Applicants should complete the registration form (online or at any of the three areas where we can be accessed in Machakos town), meet entry requirements. Contact details are available on the website for submission.

Yes – You can study online from any part of the world as we have a robust eLearning platform for such. The portal is accessible 24/7 and is able to keep track of your study progression at any time during your study.  

Yes – We have a professional counsellor to provide counselling services to our students and Tutorship programme where every student upon admission is allocated a tutor who will walk with the student throughout their academic journey and ensure that all the student(s) issues are well addressed on time.

Yes – we conduct our graduation ceremonies annually and in the month of October.

Yes — we promote sports (football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, chess, darts, athletics), co-curricular activities, community service and holistic student development.

Yes – Uwezo College allows and sensitizes students to apply for NG-CDF bursaries from their constituencies and also the County Government Education Fund. We also receive funds form various donors like NGOs, Compassions, KASNEB Foundation and foreign donors towards the education of needy students. Uwezo College also has a subsidiary foundation known as Uwezo Wetu Foundation that sponsors the needy students to pursue their studies. This ensures that no youth is left behind – impacting lives, one at a time.

The college has three main intakes (i.e January, May and September) and encourages early application as slots fill. Application can however be done anytime, from anywhere as we have provided self application ability through our online registration portal.

Yes – we have hostels for both boys and girls and available in the hostels is water, electricity, bed, mattress, chair, table and enough cooking space. Food and personal belongs are upon the student.

Every Friday is a devotion day from 9.30am – 11.30 am where various religious segments congregate to worship; the CU, the YCS, etc.

Yes — Many students who do not secure university placements choose Uwezo College’s NITA grade Tests, Artisan, Certificate or Diploma programmes to build skills and enter employment or self-employment.

Yes — one of our competitive advantages for students who study with us is guaranteed industrial attachment and job linkages for our graduates. Uwezo College places key emphasis in industrial training for our trainees and therefore we have created partnership with various institutions in relevant industries to offer hands on experience.

Uwezo College emphasises affordable fees for the various courses that we have and offers scholarships via the Uwezo Wetu Foundation (for eligible needy students).

While specific course requirements vary, admission is open to those meeting the minimum entry criteria for the chosen programme (craft, certificate or diploma). Besides meeting the minimum grade required, students are required to have photocopies of their birth certificates, National ID cards, KCPE/KCSE transcripts, e.t.c.

Short courses (typically 2-6 months) are available for job-specific skills like AutoCAD, Cyber Security, Digital Marketing, Plumbing, Masonry etc.

Uwezo College’s programmes are examined by bodies such as Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB), National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), Institute of Commercial Management (ICM) and TVET - CDACC.

Uwezo College provides 3 methods of training that suits diverse training requirements of our students namely: physical or face to face, online, part time and distance learning.

The college offers a wide range of courses that are categorised under multiple schools including: ICT, Business Management, Accounting, Electrical Engineering, Catering and Hospitality, Social Work and Community Development, Building Technology, Masonry, Civil Engineering, Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy, Fashion Design, Culture and Languages. The courses are offered at levels: Artisan, Craft Certificate and Diploma for KNEC, Level 3-6 for CDACC, Grade Tests 3 to 1 for NITA and our accredited examining bodies include: NITA, KNEC, TVET-CDACC, KASNEB and ICM.  

Yes — the college is registered under the Ministry of Education as a middle-level college (TVETA/PRIVATE/TVC/0015/2018) and has been in operation since the year 2014.

You can access Uwezo College either physically by visiting three areas within Machakos town. The main office is located at the Machakos Industrial area, KIE Building just near the Machakos Civil Servants quarters. We are also accessible at the Muindi Mbingu recreational facility just outside the Machakos County Municipal Council offices and again along Machakos- Mutituni road, opposite the Machakos Golf Club where we have our new admissions block and sports/graduation square.
